TIM RUTILI:
(arroyo) ABSTRACTIONS
Tim Rutili, the creative force behind Chicago bands Califone and Red Red Meat, crafts a sprawling landscape of sound on his instrumental album (arroyo) Abstractions. Swirls of processed guitar, strings, and piano drift over fragments of electronic chatter and curiously indescribable percussive phrases, evoking a living, breathing sonic ecosystem.

In addition to creating this album, Tim Rutili used many of the same compositional techniques to score the film Above the Arroyo: A Dream of the Stairs of Los Angeles by director Russell Brown.
